“The data provided to me by Forth Edge is so vital for making sure everything I do training-wise is balanced with keeping my body healthy. It's also such a great way of seeing how much I've progressed after big training blocks. After coming back from an altitude training camp at the end of this year, I'm now able to use my DIY testing kit to see how my body has been impacted, both positively and negatively!”
Archie Davis has clocked up some significant results over his various races to date, and as an Under-23 group competitor, he’s still only at the start of his running career.
While Davis has had injuries over previous seasons that have affected his performance, everything came together in 2019. He achieved a personal best in the 1500m, beating his previous time by 3 seconds, gaining a record and boosting his ranking to 23rd in the world for his age group. Other achievements included competing in his first Senior British Championship final and, despite being the youngest racer in the competition, finished 6th. Davis even found energy to spare to test himself in 5k and 10k road races.
2020 is a pivotal year for Davis, with ambitions to get spots on both the Olympic and European Championship teams.
A. I like to keep my pre-competition meal quite simple; something that breaks down easily in my body so I can be as light as possible on race day. White carbs are a lot easier to digest, so rice is always a great option. White meat will sit better than red meat, so I go for chicken. A few vegetables on the side and I'm ready to go!
A. I'm not afraid to treat myself regularly as I think it helps you stay relaxed and can sometimes take the intensity off of a hard day. You can always treat yourself with natural goodness like dried fruit and nuts, but I can't stay away from cheese and pastries if I want a real treat...
A. I like music with strong, motivational lyrics to get me going before a competition, either 90s Hip-Hop or Grime is what I normally go for!
A. I think I'd choose the Incredible Hulk as the superhero I'd most like to be - being able to remain a normal person at the best of times, but having unrivalled strength and power to do some damage when I need it, that would be pretty cool.
