The Female Runner Test by Edge feels like it was designed specifically for me. I started using Edge because I want to ensure that when I am training for a big event I am not pushing my body so hard that I am compromising my health.

Hayley started running in early 2016 when a friend encouraged her to give it a try and fell in love with it. She didn’t even a pair of running shoes back then, but now has a huge multi-disciplinary team supporting her journey as an elite athlete.

Her favourite races are Great North Run and London Marathon, but has aims of competing at all six major marathons one day. Running is a way of life, not just a sport.

Signing up for her first races in that same year, running a 10km on Blackpool seafront followed by Birmingham Half Marathon in 1:35:18, she crossed the finish line saying “I have no idea how people run marathons! That was so far!”

Six months later she ran 3 hours 22 at Manchester Marathon for her first ever marathon with the aim of breaking 4 hours. Inspired by everyone around her, it was incredible. She was hooked on running. Running 2 hours 47 at the London Marathon in 2018 led to selection for her first England team event at Toronto marathon in the same year.

Her current PBs stand at 2:32 (marathon) and 71:03 (half marathon), but aims to reset those PBS soon with the aim of competing in the Commonwealth Marathon team next year! And you may even see this marathon runner on a track soon too!

Running is her passion, and although a relative newcomer to the sport she cannot imagine being without it. It has brought amazing friendships, laughs, tears, challenges, pure joy and everything in between.

Hayley is using our Female Runner Test to monitor her health and training load.

“Health is first and foremost the most important aspect of running and training. By having regular tests (every 4 months) I can monitor what’s going on inside my body whilst pushing hard and recovering as best as I can in training. Understanding this, gives me a huge advantage because I can ensure injuries are minimised by keeping my hormones and biomarkers where they should be.”
