You train hard to excel across three different sporting disciplines, but it can take a toll on your body

Finding the balance between efficient training, effective nutrition and all-important rest - the three pillars of successful athletic performance - can be difficult.

The insight Forth Edge gives you into your body and how it works means you can tailor and adapt your training as your season progresses to make sure it’s getting what it needs to give you the competitive edge. And it can all be done quickly, regularly and from the comfort of your own home.

What biomarkers are important for triathletes?

Triathlon puts an intense training load on athletes, so finding the balance between productive training and overstressing the body, when gains drop off and damage is possible, is critical.

Biomarkers like creatine kinase and cortisol can indicate muscle damage and stress. Micronutrient levels like active B12 and ferritin can inform diet planning to ensure your body is getting what it needs, whilst changes in hormones give insight into whether you’ve got the balance right between training load and nutritional intake. These and others can build up a clear picture of your health helping you to perform at your best.

Forth Edge Triathlete Test

How often should I test?

To get the best possible picture of how your body works, you need to identify your own unique biomarker profile. The clearer this picture is, the easier it becomes to chart how changes to your diet or training plan affect performance and recovery

Regular testing will establish a baseline, and will allow you to compare not only how your biomarkers match up to other athletes of a similar age and gender, but also against your own ‘normal’ levels so changes are easier to spot.

Forth Edge recommends testing every 3 months throughout the year, during race season and off-season, to really get to know your body.

Simone Mitchell

Triathlete

“I use Forth Edge to monitor my wellbeing, body stress levels and make sure my biomarkers are as they should be throughout the year. My key focus is to ensure my body’s recovery is continually monitored to prevent injuries and to ensure I am performing at my very best. I know that with regular biomarking testing with Forth Edge I have left no stone unturned and can fully commit to delivering my very best performance in training and at races”

Harry Tanfield

Road and track cyclist

“I find the information about my blood values at different points in the season very valuable; it helps me guide my training and monitor the training load. Equally my nutritionist, coach and gym coach use this information to better enable them to direct my training. It’s a complete team effort and Forth Edge makes this possible. Plus the test is super quick and easy.”

Tom Evans

Ultra runner

“As a professional athlete I need to ensure that I’m looking after my body throughout the year. Being an ultra runner, my training volume is high (225km average per week) and it’s essential to stay healthy. This is where Forth Edge has helped me; my first test showed that my iron levels were low and I have now been able to improve them which has really helped my performance. It’s an essential part of my training and racing as an endurance athlete!”
